Hypnotist, the Perfect Career for Baby Boomers Part 1

Hypnotist: “The Perfect Career” for Baby Boomers Part 1.

This article is dedicated to Francis J. Perkins Senior, who died two weeks after his retirement from 30 years of work.

Do you have enough money to fund your retirement? This is a question that plagues Baby Boomers.

Most people in that Baby Boomer Generation feel that they will have to work to maintain the same standard of living that they had prior to retirement. (Or Forced Retirement which is becoming more and more commonplace)

After spending a lifetime building careers, most “Baby Boomers” are surprised to find themselves being pushed out of their jobs.

Many feel that after being pushed out, the only job they will qualify for is “Greeter” at the local Wal-Mart.

Some have retired early only to find funds running out at an unbelievable rate of speed.

This is very sad.

Fortunately there is one career path that can not only solve the “I Feel Worthless Blues” suffered by many 50 and 60 something people, but you can earn money commensurate with the life obstacles you braved during your thirty something years of working for a living.

There are two career paths as a professional hypnotist. You can become a stage hypnotist and present exciting shows to high schools, universities, and corporations, or you can become a clinical hypnotist or hypnosis consultant and work with people either one-on-one or in groups to achieve positives goals.

Hypnosis as a Career

I can think of no other career that can be started so quickly. Can you?

Many people think that as a hypnotist or hypnotherapist you have to have the gift of gab. That is not true. In fact you need to have the gift of silence as you learn how to help your clients by listening and not speaking.

There are no set words you say to help people change. The best way to find the words is by listening to your clients and then using their words to affect permanent change.

Your clients seem to magically heal themselves after they reveal not only what is wrong with them, but the exact plan they will need to follow in order to be successful.

Are you able to ask a few questions, listen to the responses, and then create a plan for achievement of your client’s goals? If you have had a career in professional sales, you will recognize this as assessing your client’s needs. This is why many professional sales people do find success and happiness in a career as a professional hypnotist.

Do I have to be Psychic or Burn Candles to be A Hypnotist?

No. In fact I have virtually no psychic ability. I do have the ability however, to ask the right kinds of questions. This is one ingredient you will need to develop to be successful as a hypnotist.

You do not need to burn any candles to be a hypnotist. I tried candles only once and practically burned down my house. Hypnosis involves relaxed concentration, not a candle burning ceremony.

Can I Really Help People Achieve Their Goals With Hypnosis?

Yes you can. The fact you made it through the 60’s means that you have learned many of life’s lessons. You learn how to fail and how to succeed in life. Most of your clients will be younger than you. The lessons you learned can help raise your clients to a new level of awareness. You can turn your life experiences and life lessons into gold as a professional hypnotist.

What about Professional Certification?

Professional Certification for Hypnotists is nothing like Certification is for Public School Teachers, Dentists, Medical Doctors or Accountants.

Since there are no Regionally Accredited Colleges and Universities offering Hypnosis at a Bachelor’s, Masters, or PhD level, there will NEVER be any kind of Professional Certification that means anything.

There are No professional degree programs or even professional certification programs that are offered by Regionally Accredited Schools.

When you get certified by any Hypnosis Schools, these schools are just private companies, usually very small with one or two owners. They usually do a good job in teaching hypnosis, however, when they talk about “Certification” especially Hypnotherapy Certification, they are not representing your training to compare in any degree with the Certification you need to become a professional public school teacher , dentist or doctor.

I offer a Certificate of Completion for work done in my courses, but it is never to be considered Hypnotherapy Certification. It just means you completed the course.

If Hypnotherapy Certification really ever existed in the United States it would mean the person taking the Hypnotherapy Certification Program would have to have at least 150 College Credit Hours of Instruction.

For those of you who have been out of college for a while, that means you would have to have a 4 year Bachelors’ Degree in Hypnotherapy followed by at least a Masters Degree in Hypnotherapy. That is 5 full time years at college before you can really call yourself a “Hypnotherapist.” You would be taking 60 hours of general credit courses like English, College Math, Science, and all of those fun courses you loved so much back in the 60’s.

You would have to go to the University of Notre Dame, or University of California, or some other Regionally Accredited College if there was true Certification. Check out college catalogs in your region and you will find no programs for Hypnotherapists.

Remember Political Science Majors, back in the 60s. Many of those guys and gals went on to become 401K fund managers for major fund providers. They do not show up for protest marches anymore, and do not have to worry about the Draft.

Yes, even a retired 401K Fund Manager can become a professional hypnotist. They can help people see opportunities for prosperity that most of us miss. They can dip back into the 60s when they felt they could change the world. As a professional hypnotist, you get to change the world, one life at a time.

Do I Need an Advanced College Degree to be A Hypnotherapist?

Yes. In most states in the United Stages you can only call yourself a Hypnotherapist if you have a Masters or PhD in Psychology from a Regionally Accredited University, a Psychiatrist, who has an MD, or a Doctor with a Medical Degree.

However, you can call yourself a Professional Hypnotist, a Clinical Hypnotist, a Super Man Hypnotist, King, or anything you wish, even if your training only included reading a book about hypnosis.

It’s the word “therapy” in the word “Hypnotherapy” that implies you have much more education and training than you really have.

So now that the barrier of professional college programs has been broken down, and the huge investment of time and money, what is holding you back from becoming a professional hypnotist, today?

You do not have to invest four or five years of your life and $100,000 to begin your new career as a professional hypnotist.

The best part is you get to help people see their lives a little differently. You get to work within your client’s truth and help him/her overcome a serious problem. You get the thrill of helping and sometimes even saving another life.

There are very few occupations where you can help so many people realize their potential and defeat so many problems

How Much Time Do I Need to Devote to A Hypnotism Career?

You can work part-time or you can work fulltime. You can take any days or nights off without asking for permission. You control your schedule and your income.

Whether you decide to become a clinical hypnotist or a stage hypnotist, there is one part of the job that will take up most of your time.

That job is marketing “You.” You know already that whether you purchase a franchise business, open a restaurant, or become a professional consultant, you will need to take time to market and promote yourself.

Even if you get an agent, as in the case of a stage hypnotist or you get a job working for another popular clinical hypnotist, you will find that you are marketing all of the time.

After 30 years in this business, I still market myself. I work just as hard on it now as I did 30 years ago.

Begin to look at marketing yourself differently. Begin to like it.

After all, most of your business clients suffer from the same lack of self-esteem and self-image. You cannot help them unless you can help yourself. If you can make money by marketing yourself, you can help any business increase sales with your hypnosis prescriptions.

I work smarter now however, because I found what works best for me and my personal schedule.

In my courses, I hold your hand as we develop a marketing and promotion plan that will work best for you.
