New Help for Meditators
Meditation is just the opposite of hypnosis. As hypnosis is narrowing of one idea or thought down to a central focus, eliminating all distractions, meditating involves expanding awareness by shifting one thought to many unrelated thoughts in a continuing expansion outward.
Both hypnosis and meditation are effective ways of overcoming stress. When in stressful situations all you can think about is the "stressor." This is the single thought you cannot get out of your head.
Using meditation will expand your awareness from one point of view to "many points to view," in this game we call "life."

Thanks Wayne for your helpful website.
One aspect of hypnosis worth mentioning here is that it is generally easier to achieve self-hypnosis than it is to attain a meditative state.
Mediation involves "emptying" the mind, which is not that easy to do if you have a busy mind like I do! However I can attain deep self-hypnosis in a couple of minutes. Once I am there I can move into a meditative state if I want to.
