Questions for the Hypnotist

Questions for the Hypnotist

“Dear mr Perkins”
“My name Is Christopher ball and I am interested in seeing if you could tell me what I can do to improve my hypnosis. “The method that I use is I make the person look very hard at a pen and I make them look at nothing but the pen and listen to nothing but my voice. then I say when I snap my fingers you will be in a deep trance. Then to get them out of the trance I say when I snap my fingers you will be out of this trance and this order is locked in with the password ..”.

Please give me some advice.
Christopher Ball

Answer:

Dear Christopher,

Thank you for writing, Christopher. First of all, I do not know your age. If you are learning hypnosis in the United States you must be at least 21 years old. Also if you are an adult, you need to have a permission slip from the parents of anyone you are hypnotizing who is under 18 years old.

Using a single method like “looking real hard at a pen” may work on some people, but others will be distracted by it. Some people like staring at objects when hypnotize, others work better to begin with their eyes closed down.

Hypnosis is a state of concentration, not a trance. If you are demanding people go into a trance with a snap of the fingers, many will pop out of hypnosis all together, because they know that hypnosis is concentration, not trance. Only 20 percent of the population or 1 out of 5 of your clients will think they were in a trance.

I would use a deepening technique like counting backwards from 100 down to one, or developing a light or heavy sensation in the body, or give them pre-hypnosis tests.

(All of these things can be learning in my Hypnosis Audio Training Course)

You also need to use something different for a cue to go down into hypnosis, especially if you are using the same cue, (snapping fingers) to take them out of hypnosis.

I recommend you take a course in hypnosis to learn these fine points. I offer a course on how to learn hypnosis by ear. Click here for information.

I wish you success in your efforts.

Free Cancer Help from John Paul Olsen

Free Cancer Help from John Paul Olsen and His Mother Annie Olsen

John P. Olsen was a fantastic friend. He was always building people up and supporting their plans for the future. In July of 1975 he died of cancer in Louisville, Kentucky. His Mother Annie who was one of the funniest and nicest people alive died of cancer not too long ago.

One message I know they want to give to all cancer victims is, “You are much more powerful than you think you are.”

“Think of positive thoughts as you fight this disease.” “Bring fun and joy into your life.””Observe new growth in the people surrounding you.”

“People will say things to you that they think you want to hear right now.” “Or they will unconsciously say things that they shouldn’t say because they are trying not to say those things.” “Laugh at them out loud; it will relieve a lot of tension for both of you.”

“It is their way of saying that they love you.”

You can download my free cancer hypnosis audio recording that will help you find peace by clicking here or going to the Hypnotism Education Website.

I wish the best for you and your family.

Go Back in Time With Hypnotic Age Regression

What is hypnotic age-regression?

What is hypnotic age-regression? As a hypnotist do I need to subscribe to a strange religious belief in order to present age regression?

You have a two part question so I will give you a two part answers.

Part 1, Age regression is the act of taking your client back in time. Usually your client wants to go back in time to re-create or re-live a significant event. You client’s belief system may include a belief that he or she has lived in a previous lifetime or lifetimes.

You may find this to be a fact with your client, even if your client’s current religion does not include reincarnation in their doctrine. It is strange but true! When your client suggests going back in time to overcome a problem or heal a hurt, the information is coming from deep within your client’s subconscious mind. Your client’s know deep down that the simple act of age regression will help the client see what is wrong with them in this lifetime, and the realizations itself is very therapeutic.

As far as you the hypnotist are concerned, if your belief system is one where you don’t believe in previous lives, I suggest you think of this procedure as a “guided visualization.” As a hypnotist, it never really matters what you think, it only matters what your client thinks. You are trying to change your client, not yourself.

Part 2. Do I need to subscribe to a strange religious belief in order to present age regression?

No, you do not. You do not need to offer any religious opinions either. Just let the process of age regression happen and keep an open mind. When you are working with the powerful subconscious mind, you will find Republicans who are closet Democrats, and Western Religious Believers who act as Eastern Philosophical believers.

Change in your client’s habit pattern is what you want to achieve, not a convert to a particular religion.

Summary:

Age Regression is a powerful tool for change. Allow your client’s belief system to come forth through age regression and you are well on your way to helping all your clients achieve permanent change. Keep your personal religious beliefs to yourself as the only belief system that counts are the clients you help.

Was I Really Hypnotized?

“Was I Really Hypnotized?”

Do you want to be hypnotized or do you want your problem solved?
As a professional hypnotist or hypnotherapist you will be faced with this conundrum every day?

You will fix your client’s problem but they will respond after your session, “My pain is gone now, but I don’t really think I was hypnotized.”

Hypnosis is a state of mental concentration. It is no different than the concentration you experience when reading a book, watching an interesting movie, or listening to enrapturing music.

Many of your clients, however, feel that hypnosis is a magic condition where they lie unconscious while their brains are being rewired. They feel they should have no memory of the experience.

Once your client is away from your office and their usual distractions in life are in play, there is a good chance your hypnosis prescription will soon be forgotten.

Why does this happen? Study my articles on the four fear, and you will understand why this happens. Just because a person is in severe physical, psychological, or emotional pain, does not mean they really want to eliminate the pain, forever.

The keyword here is “forever.” As a therapist when first addressing your client, ask him or her, “Do you want to rid yourself of this condition, forever?”

Give your client a few minutes to respond. Then refer to the questions I outline in my articles about the four fears associated with solving your client’s condition.

Once you get the answer that your client wants this problem solved, regardless of the consequences, and then ask these questions.

“If I can help you overcome your problem forever with a process that doesn’t seem like hypnosis to you, do I have your permission to go ahead and use it?” “Will you then cooperate and use the system I outline for you?

You may be surprised by the answers you get. The answer you want to hear is: :”The most important thing is, I want to rid myself of this problem forever.” “Use any technique you wish to help me accomplish this mission.”

If you get any response other than that one, your client is not ready to solve a problem, they are just interested in feeling hypnotized.

Until you are able to find out what is holding them back from success and why they really don’t want the problem solved, you may not be successful with your hypnotic prescription.

Make a decision at this point whether you can help your client or not. If you cannot, be honest and explain that they are not ready for help. Tell them, you will be happy to help them achieve success once they are ready.

Summary:

Be careful of the client who says, “My problem is now solved, however I didn’t feel hypnotized.” “Your client may be looking for a chance to go back to the same destructive behavior, he came to you to exorcise. Uncover the fear that is holding him back from success. Obtain your client’s verbal permission to rid him of this problem using any technique available, even if it does not include hypnosis.

How Much Money Do Hypnotist Earn?

How Much Money Do Hypnotists Earn?

A True Story:

In 1972 I was sitting in a Thursday night Business Education 424 class taught by Dr. E. Edward Harris at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb, Illinois.

My friend Chuck Miller was sitting next to me. Since we would both be receiving our degrees in Business Education soon, I asked Chuck if he had any idea of how much High School business education teachers earn.

Chuck said he had no idea. A few months later when Dr. Harris offered Chuck a high school teaching position at Chuck’s Alma Mater, Dundee Community High School, did Chuck find out what he was working toward the last four years of college.

During his senior year, Chuck worked weekends at a real estate company in Dundee, Illinois.

When Chuck compared his earning for the year with the potential earnings from teaching he faced a dilemma

Chuck’s earnings from his weekend job were exactly 3 times a teacher’s annual salary.
After all the work, the blood, sweat and tears of obtaining a degree and dedication toward his goal, Chuck’s dream was dashed with the reality of what real jobs pay.

Chuck decided to not go into the teaching field and built a successful real-estate business.

Many of us wonder, “How much can I earn as a hypnotist? I see those guys in Vegas or I see them on television. “They must earn a ton of money.”

Hypnotist’s earnings are all over the place. Since the field is so small of working stage hypnotists and even clinical hypnotherapists, I can only speak from the hypnotists who have shared that information with me over the years and my own personal income. I have been hypnotizing audiences since 1977 and have hypnotized people to overcome problems and achieve goals.

Most Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists make absolutely nothing.

This is usually because once they go to classes and come home. Once home, they do not feel like they are any different from before they left for Certification classes.

They lose their confidence and their ambition to succeed in hypnosis.

My estimate is that over 95% of trained hypnotists and hypnotherapists never go beyond hypnotizing their spouses or immediate friends.

Therefore, most hypnotists make absolutely nothing.

Now for the good news

For the small percentage of hypnosis students who decide to brave the big bad world, rewards can be fantastic.

I know some hypnotists who earn less than $40,000 per year, and I know hypnotists who earn over $500,000 a year.

Most, but not all of the hypnotists earning over $500,000 a year perform on stage. They also sell books, tapes, CDs and other products that contribute to their total income.

Hypnotherapists or professional hypnotists

Hypnotherapists, (most do not have Masters Degrees from Regionally Accredited Universities) so they legally cannot call themselves “therapists.” Most practicing hypnotherapists today are Baby Boomers who may have been political science or business majors in college.

You can call yourself a Professional Hypnotist, however, regardless of your educational background.

Many very successful hypnotherapists have never attended a single day of college but most have a year or two.

Two of the most successful professional hypnotists in history, Dave Elman and Ormond McGill, were only high school graduates. Ormond spent 78 years in the field of hypnosis and worked up until he died at 92 years of age.

Both trained thousands of professional hypnotists, psychologists, and medical doctors the fine art of hypnotism.

Life experiences and desire to help other people are more important than college courses.

How do I Earn the Big Money as A Hypnotist

Regardless of where you find yourself in total earnings, it will always be a function of marketing your services. You need to learn how to market in order to be successful. I have only known one professional stage hypnotist who earns more than $500,000 a year and has a single agent working for him.

I have never used an agent for booking stage shows as I want to be a part of all of the negotiations, however I do work with agents for the corporate market as the budgets are much larger than the high schools and college markets I serve.

In my Professional Hypnotist Training course, that I present on-one-one, I spend considerable time, walking you through the steps of how to market yourself as a hypnotist, how to get clients or bookings, and how to accomplish your mission with minimal marketing costs.

I show you how to begin part time. In fact, I only work part time because speaking fees are quite large, especially in the University and Corporate Markets.

For more information about my exclusive one-on-one program, click here.

Summary:

Always find out how much money you can earn, before you invest in a new career. My friend Chuck spent four years studying in college, had a straight “A” average in his field, and just before graduating decided that his part-time job, offered him a better living then his desired field of study.

If you desire to enter the field of hypnosis, you need someone to take your hand and lead you through every step in developing your client base or teaching you how to book your own hypnosis shows.

It is hard work, but you can make your own schedule and earn many times what you will earn in traditional jobs. And you may be able to contribute to the wellbeing of society well up into your 90’s.

“My mission in life is to help you achieve your mission in life.”

Can Women Become Hypnotists?

Can women become hypnotists?

Yes, women can become hypnotists. In fact about 90% of current hypnotherapy classes include women. There are many more female hypnotists then men. Women make great hypnotherapists because they tend to be patient and they tend to be great listeners. A hypnotherapist needs to be a great listener because she is listening for cues in her client’s language and behavior, in order to structure the correct hypnotic treatment prescription.

There aren’t very many female stage hypnotists at this point in history. There are just a few female stage hypnotists today; however all seem to be doing well. The earliest female stage hypnotist I am aware of performed in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Her father was a professional hypnotist as well.

I have trained several hypnotists but only a few specialized in stage hypnotism.

Summary:

Women make great hypnotherapists. There are a few female stage hypnotists. There is room for many more in this profession.

How to book Schools by "Split the Gate Events"

How to book Schools by Split the Gate Event

One of the easiest ways of booking hypnosis gigs for schools is to book a Split the Gate Event. Split the Gate means that you do not collect your fee up front. You assume some of the risks as you are betting on a stage hypnosis show to bring in a large paying audience.

High school clubs and organizations are always trying to raise money. Clubs are approached by vendors who want students to sell expensive soap, food, wrist bands, or other products that require students to have door to door selling skills.

This option usually falls flat because most teachers and students do not like to approach the public this way.

Another option is for students to wash cars at a local retail establishment. The establishment provides the water for free and the students need to show up and wash cars for donations. Many students do not show up on the assigned day leaving the club sponsor and a handful of students working very hard washing cars.

Students usually raise only a few hundred dollars using the car wash option.

The third option is for the club to have an entertainer perform at the high school during a week night or weekend. The students and student club advisor arrange for the use of the auditorium or gymnasium for the night, the performer shows up and delivers a program.

The Stage Hypnotism Performance works well in drawing people because it is the unique reality show that uses student volunteers and the true magic of the mind, Hypnotism.

How much do clubs earn from a Hypnotism show?

In the average high school of about 1200-1500 students, and with a lot of advance publicity for the event, the event should draw between 1000-2000 paying customers.

If the club charges just $6.00 a ticket for the event, and if you figure only 1000 paying customers show up, the club should receive $6000.00 from ticket sales. If you split the gate with the school 50/50, you will receive $3000.00 for your one-hour performance and the school club will receive the other $3000.00.

In addition to ticket sales the club may run a silent auction or sell food during and after the event. With a turnout of at least 1000 people, there will be plenty of paying customers to buy things during and after the show.

This is a win-win situation for the school because they did not have to pay you a fee up front and you are committing to an hour or a day at a school where you possibly won’t make any money. You assume the risk just like the club advisor or sponsor. This places you in good standing with the sponsor as you make your proposal.

How to Contact the Student Club Advisor

There are many clubs and club sponsors at a typical public high school.

There are senior night fund raisers, post prom fund raisers, band booster events, choir booster events, scholarship fund raisers, senior class trips, and the list goes on and on.

Schools need to have events that are guaranteed to bring in thousands of dollars not just a few hundred dollars.

The stage hypnotist show can do just that.

Since you have no idea how many clubs and who are the people that are begging for funds within those clubs the best way to find out is to call in to the school switchboard and ask to talk with the principal.

The principal knows student sponsors because they are always crying on his/her shoulder about raising money.

When you reach the switchboard, ask the receptionist to transfer you to the principal’s office.

Also ask the principal’s name.

If you reach a voice mail for the principal, leave the following message.

“My name is________ and my telephone number is:_____________.

I am a professional hypnotist that helps student organizations raise money without any up front costs.

Please call any time that is convenient or pass my name on to one of your student club sponsors who needs to raise large amounts of money this year.

Thank you,

My name again is _____ and my number is:__________________

-----

Notice how I give the telephone at the beginning of the conversation and at the end. I have found that many times the message is forwarded from place to place and its convenient for the sponsor to write down the number without having to listen to the whole message two or three times.
If the message is garbled, at least your telephone number might be heard as you give it twice during the message.

Attempt to call at least 10-15 schools a day between the hours of 8AM and 4PM in the time zone they are located.

If you get the principal on the very first try get right to the point and tell him/or that you want to put on a great show to enable their club to raise a significant amount of money for their special needs.

Only leave one message per school. Principals are busy people but will call you if they are interested. If you don’t hear from them this semester, call them the next semester and leave the same message. So you are leaving two messages per year or one per semester.

Be prepared to send out your agreement that day spelling out the dates and terms and then start rehearsing the show.

Or better still, with your positive response to the call make some additional calls that day and fill up your schedule.

Good luck,

Wayne F. Perkins

How to Avoid the "Send the Video" Stall

How to Avoid the “Send the Video” Stall

Many times when you are booking yourself for stage hypnotist performances, you will have your contact say, “That sounds good, send me a video.”

At best, when you get the send me the video remark, you will send out the video and spends several days or months or life, trying to make sure your contact received the video and make sure that your video is being watched by the people that make a decision to hire you.

At worst, your video is placed in a pile of other videos, and whoever has the most expensive looking video and video packaging gets the job.

When a person asks you for a video, what they are really saying is either, “I don’t make the decision in hiring you.” “It goes before a committee and I just collect information, or I need more information about your performance before I can hire you.”

What to say to your contact
Contact: “Your performance sounds interesting; can you send me a video?”

Hypnotist: “I would love to send you a video, however since I use genuine hypnosis and I won’t be in the room when you or your committee views the video, what happens if you or other people in the room are hypnotized by watching the video?

Hypnotist: “What specific information are you looking for about my performance that will help you make the decision? “I can answer all of your questions and concerns while we are on the phone.” “Are you making the decision alone or is there someone else we can talk to that helps you make the decision?”

Your contact will then tell you if a committee needs to be addressed or if it is in his power to make the decision. If others need to be addressed, suggest a conference call when all parties can be present, therefore you can answer all of their questions and make it easy for them to make a decision.

Generally, your initial contact will be the person that either makes the decision or has an influential place in making the decision. Once you answer his questions or concerns on that very first call, then you can send out a letter of agreement, (contract) and find out the date, time, and estimated number of audience members and you will be able to book a show.

Do not let the stall of sending out a video keep you from booking business today!

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step # 10 Expectation

Step 10: Expectation: Expect to Achieve Your Goal

One of the problems about goal setting is that most of the time, we really do not expect to achieve our goal.

We look back on our lives and remember all of the times we tried to achieve our goal before only to give up out dream along the way.

We find ourselves setting goals in January, only to relinquish our goal in February.

Goal setting and goal achievement is part of the membership benefits of the Human Race.

Our powerful minds are always striving toward something whether we want that something or not.

From my experience, I find that if we are not moving toward wealth then we are moving toward poverty.

If we are not moving toward love we are moving toward hate.

If we are not moving toward our desired goal, then we are moving away from it.

How many times have you found friends or relatives that once giving up on a diet, they gain more weight than ever before?

As a hypnotist for thirty years, I can tell you that many people struggling to achieve a goal give up and then gravitate toward gaining the opposite affect.

Expectation needs to be worked on every day. You need to “expect” to achieve your goal.

You need to find ways of expressing your life once your goal is achieved.

How do I learn to “expect” my goal?

One way to increase “expectation” of your goal is to participate in a daily ritual of visualizing yourself already in possession of your goal. You fake it until you make it.

For example, if your goal is to earn a specific amount of money, let us say, $100,000 in total income for one year, imagine yourself going to the stores that you would go to if you already have the $100,000.

If one of your goals, when you reach $100,000 is to purchase a new house, take time each week to go on a house hunting trip in the area where you would buy this new house.

If one of your goals is to create a better relationship with your family, pretend that you already have it and visualize yourself in possession of that relationship. Get comfortable with living your dream early and your expectations will become reality sooner than you think.

One of the best times to do this kind of productive meditation is while you are checking your email at home or at work. Your brain is firing on all cylinders while you are reading and responding by email. This is the perfect time to let your mind wander a bit and perform your productive day dreaming of “expecting” your anticipated goal.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step # 9

Step 9: Start a Success Support Group

One of the best ways to achieve your goals is to find a new network of people who are bent on achieving success, and hitching a ride on their network.

Unfortunately this will not be people who are close to you right now.

If the people around you were the best support group you could find, you wouldn’t need to read articles and books on how to achieve your goals. You would already be at your destination.

Have you ever been in a situation where you are sitting on a public bench or in a restaurant and strike up a conversation with a complete stranger?

Did you ever have an experience with a complete stranger where you could talk about your life or your dreams and the stranger encouraged you in a way that really made you feel good after the encounter?

This happens a great deal with people. Since your potential success in achieving your goals is not going to affect the stranger in any way, the stranger can be honest and give you great advice, listen to your dreams and support you in a way that you do not feel supported with your friends.

This is why when you create a success support group, you want to start with people who do not know you or who barely know you. They have nothing to lose by you being successful so they can support you in ways that are powerful in your goal achievement program.

Where do I find these people?
You can start a success support Blog on the Internet. You can start a group at your local church, community center, or even place a personal advertisement in a newspaper. With the miracle of the Internet and telephone, your Success Support Group members can be located anywhere in the world.

Start today and begin your Success Support Group. This will be a great step forward in achieving your goals.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #8

Step 8:Be Happy with the Success of Others

Even though this step runs contrary to human nature, celebrating in the failures of others, being genuinely happy in the success of others will pay you greater returns.

When you celebrate in the success of others you open up pathways in your brain that create a direct route for success to flow through.

A psychological law states, “Whatever thoughts you hold in your mind, your body moves in that direction.” If you are thinking about another’s failure, you begin to move in the direction of failure. If you are thinking about another person’s success, your body moves toward success.

This has happened to me countless times in my personal life.

Give it a try and help yourself achieve success by reveling in the success of others.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #7

Step 7: Become a Mentor in the field of your primary goal

Becoming a mentor in the field of your primary goal is one of the most powerful goal achievement techniques ever conceived.

If you ever want to be an expert, teach your expertise to others. Become a mentor and at the same time you will become an expert in the field.

Many years ago, I quit teaching business subjects at Elgin High School in order to become a professional performing musician. I did not have the talent or expertise. I did possess, however a burning desire to succeed in the music business.

A friend of mine name Joe Ornelas, owned a music store in called the “Player’s Bench,” in Crystal Lake Illinois. This is a place were I purchased all of my music and equipment.

Joe said he needed a Guitar Teacher to work with beginning students. I told Joe, I was learning myself and did not feel qualified to teach others.

Joe encouraged me by saying, “but Wayne, all you have to do is stay a week ahead of your students.” “They are beginners too, and they can benefit by your desire to succeed as a musician.” “Your enthusiasm is contagious.”

I thought about something one of my professors, Dr. E. Edward Harris said in my senior year at Northern Illinois University. He said, “If you want be become good at skill, teach it to someone else.”

Dr. Dale McDowell, my ex Boy Scout Leader, elementary school principal and college professor when I was at Northern Illinois University, told me, “Learn as much as you can about the subject that ignites your passion.” “Then go ahead and teach it to others.”

So, I looked my friend Joe Ornelas, the owner of the Players’ Bench in Crystal Lake, Illinois in the eye and said, “I will teach your beginning students.”

I taught beginning students and my expertise on the guitar grew in an exponential way.

I gained more confidence for my performing because I was forced to learn and remember the basics and to be able to teach beginning students these basics.

As you know already, I teach professional hypnotists. I train them to be more effective in their practices and I become better in my practice as a result.

Become a mentor for your primary goal. You will be pleasantly surprised as you head on a course at lightening speed toward your goal.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #6

Step 6: Create an Image Book

Many people need visual goals to relate to in their goal setting programs. Not everyone mind you is visual in this regard however many people are and need visual goals to achieve.

What if I want to earn $100,000 this year? How do I make that a visual goal?

An example of a visual goal in the case of earning $100,000 per year is to create a fake check issuing a check payable for $100,000, and you are the receiver of the funds.

Some people will need to view possessions representing their new found income of $100,000 per year. Those things might include a new automobile or new house. Possessions may include new clothes, boats, or stock certificates.

The best way to keep those things in mind as you are striving toward your $100,000 goal is to cut pictures out of magazines or newspapers, collect them in a picture album or just hang them on your wall at home.

The more pictures representing the fruits of your labor to focus on, the better your mind will work on honing in those goals.

When you collect pictures of your goals and hang them on your wall or you place them in a picture album, you are creating an “image book.”

This image book is a collection of the treasure you want to accumulate within a set period of time, like one year. The image book can represent things you want in shorter than one year periods, but if you allow up to a year to receive the new income level or the trappings representing the one year goal achievement period, you will allow your mind time to accept the idea that you indeed need and deserve these things.

Begin today by cutting out pictures in old magazines and newspapers. Also cut out headlines that represent strong statements in describing you and the things you desire.

You will find over time, that the text headline statements as well as the pictures begin a process in leading you on a direct path to goal achievement.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #5

Step 5 Create a Feeling Goal

One of the problems of creating goals is that we usually play it “safe.” By safe we try to make our goal, “realistic.”

We get the term “realistic” from bosses, family and friends who really do not want us to achieve success. They will tell you that it is for your own good, when what they are really telling you is that the advice is for “their own good.”

There are two truths that apply to everyone on this planet. Number one, you are born and number two, you are going to die. What we do with our lives in between those truths makes us unique and interesting. Why not begin to change your life this very minute.

In Step 5, I want you to create a goal that is so unbelievable, yet desirable, that you have but one option, you will go after it.

This goal is a “feeling in your gut goal.”

Years ago, I created a “mission statement.” It reads, “My mission in life is to help you achieve your mission in life.”

This mission statement over the last 7 years, has lead me to unbelievable situations and incredible goal achievement in other areas of my life. It all came out of a “gut feeling” goal.

There is a psychological principle that states,” When your will and your imagination are in conflict, your imagination always wins out.”

Our will is related to our realistic goals and our imagination is tied to our gut level goals or feelings.

Create a gut level goal for yourself. Make it big. I want you to dream bigger than you ever though you could dream and imagine yourself living with your goal achievement.

When you reach your goal you may change the world and you most certainly will change your life.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #4

Step 4: Write Down Your Goals

In a 10 step goal setting process you would think that step number one should be writing down your goals. However, I have found that if you do not take care of the first three steps as I have illustrated above, writing down goals may not get you to the finish line.

You positively have to take care of the things that may hold you back from success. If not, then you may be wasting your time and getting very frustrated with your results.

Before you write goals down on paper, make sure they are your goals and not someone else’s. In other words, if you are a chain smoker and your wife wants you to quit smoking, make sure you want to quit. If your wife is dictating your goal, you have a slim chance of achieving it. Conversely if you want your wife to loose weight and become more attractive, she will probably gain more weight than ever before. Losing weight has to be her goal and not yours. You can both support each other on your goal seeking journey but make sure you are working on your goals and not dictating another person’s goals.

When writing down your goals, do not restrict your goal because you feel it is impossible for you to reach. For example, let’s assume that John is totally blind. John has an unrestricted goal of becoming a professional football player.

On the surface you may think that John is crazy for creating a goal like that. However, since we have no control over what the National Football League in this country or football leagues in other countries are doing, how can we be sure that some professional football association in some country of the world begins a league for blind individuals?

There could be a league like that right now!

Do not let our limitations of knowledge restrict us in our goal creation. Always remember that there are plenty of people out there that want us to fail at anything we want to achieve. If we do fail, let us at least go after an unbelievable dream rather than a task.

Goals and Tasks

A goal is your dream with a deadline. A task is something a boss, a spouse or someone else in power wants us to achieve, also with a deadline.

Example

Most people get goals and tasks mixed up. If you have a sales job for example and your boss says your goal is to sell 100 widgets by the end of the month, that is not your goal. It is a task assigned by someone else. If you decide, “I will only earn X amount of income if I sell 100 widgets as my boss has directed.” “I want to earn XX amount of income so I want to sell 200 widgets in order to achieve my goal.”

Selling twice as much as your boss wanted you to sell makes it your goal. As soon as you complete selling 100 widgets, you have completed a task. Once you reach 200 widgets you have achieved your goal.

Goals are things you want to achieve. Tasks are things other people want you to achieve.

Always have your goals in mind. Our minds are like heat seeking missiles when it comes to goals. If we do not have any goals in mind, we will go after something anyway. Many times it is something that we do not really want for ourselves.

Daily Goal Focus

Focus on your goals each morning. In fact read over all 10 steps every morning. When a goal has no purpose for you anymore or you decide you will not be happy achieving that goal, just cross it off your list. Substitute a new goal for the one crossed off.

Summary:

Keep your mind and body active by always having lofty goals to achieve. Write down your goals making sure they are your goals and not tasks assigned by others. Your goals are important. Read over your goals and the 10 step program each day. Revise when needed.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #3

Step 3: Forgive your foes.

You need to forgive your foes in order to proceed in achieving all of your goals.

Take the names of the people from Step 1, read over each name and then focus on each person on the list.

As you focus on a specific name, silently forgive them for holding you back from success. Talking delight in the failure of others is a human trait we do not like to own up to. It runs counter to all religious and social beliefs. It is impossible to understand however it is real and it is potent.

When we silently wish success on our foes, we will actually end up wishing success for ourselves. We will begin giving life to our hopes and aspirations.

Take each name on your list. Read the name to yourself or aloud and say the following as you take this step: “I wish for ________the same success and achievement I want for myself.” “I forgive _________for trying to hold me back from achieving my goal.” “I understand that this holding back is just a human trait that we all are working hard to overcome.”

Each day before you work on your goals, set aside some time to focus and verbalize your forgiveness for your foes. You will find this very effective in overcoming people who are holding you back from the success you rightfully deserve.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #2

Step #2 from 10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006

Reflect on those who are holding you back from success

Once you have written down who is holding you back from success, I want you to reflect on these people and ask yourself the following questions.

Why do I want ________to keep me from achieving my goal?

What purpose does it serve to allow _____and _____to keep me from being happy and achieving success?

Can I be happy by successfully achieving my goal in spite of what _______or _____thinks of me?

Read over your questions and answers and study them for the next several days. Each day as you review your goals, make sure you reflect on who may be holding you back, reflect on them for a moment and then charge ahead toward success!

Always remember, that only you allow others to control your health, wealth and happiness. Are you going to allow others to control your life, or have you reached the time where you are going to take charge and control your life?
You only have one life to live. You have the power to decide how you want to live the rest of your life. If you succeed, you may lose some of your friends and relatives. However, with your success be prepared to change other people’s lives. When you change your life, you cannot help but change others as well.

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #1

10 Steps to Goal Achievement for 2006: Step #1

Do you want to achieve all of your goals for 2006?

Follow this 10 Step Guide to insure you will reach and exceed all of your goals. Every few days I will be adding more steps. Take these steps in order and complete each one before progressing on to the next step.

Step #1

Before writing a specific goal on a piece of paper I want you to close your eyes and imagine how your family and friends will act once you achieve your primary goal.

Is there anyone holding you back from your goals? Who is it or who are they? Write down their names on a piece of paper or create a file on your computer and title it, My Goal Achievement for 2006.

This is the very first step of the goal achievement process. When people try to achieve their New Year’s goals or any other goal for that matter, they always have to overcome the naysayer and negative people. Unfortunately those people are usually very close to them and have a great deal of influence on their success.

Shortly I will introduce Step #2. You must however; complete Step #1 or you risk never achieving your goal, or achieving it only for a short time.

What you want and deserve is to achieve all of your goals, in spite of what friends, family, bosses, or loved ones say or think about your success. I pledge to help you overcome their influence and achieve all the success you deserve.
